Mentor Teacher
Mentors are an integral support for new teachers (mentees) in SUSD. They are continuing teachers that have been recommended by their principal and are assigned to support a new teacher on site.
Mentors meet with mentees regularly and frequently to help them feel welcome and to give support when they have questions/needs. They utilize communication skills to build rapport and trust with mentees, maintain confidentiality, and are able to familiarize the new teacher with school policies, procedures, and culture.
Mentors must attend a training session and Meet and Greet luncheon as part of New Teacher Induction activities.
