Instructional Coaching is a support for teachers participating in some essential in-services in SUSD. Instructional coaches (ICs) are master teachers recommended by their principals or district professional development coordinators. They utilize communication skills to build rapport and trust with colleagues, maintain confidentiality, share passion and knowledge of teaching, and can organize effectively.
Elementary Reading Coaches are IC’s who have attended Foundations of Elementary Reading Instruction and have a mastery of multiple reading strategies. They coach participants in Foundations of Elementary Reading Instruction and provide additional coaching for other reading based in-services.
